This section introduces the various options available to assist you in upgrading and acquiring new skills.

An apprenticeship helps trades persons enter into B.C. industries through both classroom and on the job training. Experienced trades people work side-by-side with apprentices to pass their knowledge and experience onto this next genreation of workers.

Many careers in B.C. require that you have special certifications or training. Recognizing Credentials provides information on how to get recognition for experience, qualifications and education obtained outside of B.C. or Canada.

Upgrading Qualifications provides information to help experienced workers further upgrade their qualifications through: 

• courses at a university, community college or technical institute
• distance education
• on-the-job training
• a more formal certification program
