BC Rapid Transit Company (BCRTC) plays a major part in shaping the growth of Metro Vancouver, helping to create one of the most liveable regions in the world. BCRTC is responsible for providing Translink’s rail transit services which includes Expo & Millennium SkyTrain Lines, West Coast Express and contract operation of the Canada Line. Reporting to the President & General Manager, the Vice President, Maintenance provides strategic leadership of the delivery of all of BCRTC’s asset management, engineering, maintenance and technical services on an expanding network. In addition, the incumbent oversees all aspects related to effective preventative maintenance planning for the organization’s wayside capital assets and ensures all systems are reliable and operate effectively.
As part of BCRTC’s executive team, the Vice President, Maintenance will share in accountability for strategic planning and the achievement of goals that support TransLink’s enterprise strategies, programs and standards. An external focus on building meaningful and productive relationships with stakeholders and agencies will be key to the Vice President, Maintenance’s mandate, as will providing leadership to a departmental team of 300 engineering and maintenance professionals.
The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in establishing new standards for preventative maintenance and re-engineering processes as well as continuous improvement initiatives. He/she will also be a strategic, resourceful, innovative and analytical individual who possesses exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire the direct reports and the department.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned maintenance planning professional with leadership experience in maintaining a rail transit system, preferably in an automatic train control environment. With over 10+ years of senior leadership experience, the Vice President, Maintenance will have a stellar track record of consensus building, creativity and financial acumen, ideally supported by a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. The salary range starts at $140,000.
