If you’ve recently been let go or laid off and would like assistance upgrading your skills while on EI, find information on how to qualify.

Once you’ve been placed on EI, you can access a number of services to support you in your search for employment.

  • The B.C. government’s Skills Development employment program provides financial assistance to eligible individuals for the skills training they need to re-enter the workforce.
  • Unemployed long tenured workers may also be eligible for federal Career Transition Assistance initiatives. This assistance help laid-off workers to renew or upgrade their skills while on EI.
