Learn about Employment Standards

Before you accept an employment offer, make sure you’re aware of the minimum standards of wages and working conditions. For most workplaces, this information is set out in B.C.’s Employment Standards Act. However, some industries have special rules about wages and working conditions. Check the Employment Standards Factsheets to see if there are any special rules for your industry.

If you are a foreign worker, review the Employment Standards for Foreign Workers factsheet. It’s available in six languages.

In unionized jobs, the collective agreement sets out wages and working conditions. If you’re a unionized employee – check the Labour Relations Code to learn about your rights.
