Interested in finding information on the population characteristics of people living in B.C.?
The Census is a survey of all Canadians conducted every five years by Statistics Canada. It provides information at national, provincial, municipal and regional district levels.
You can find detailed information on population demography, labour and income (employment, unemployment, earnings, occupations, education level attained), immigration and geography.
Social statistics are also available. They provide insight into such areas as ethnic origins, women in the labour force, mobility and migration, families and marital status, home ownership, and more.
You will find Census data at BC Stats’ link to the Census of Canada. The most recent Census was completed in May 2006, and the next survey will take place in 2011. Historical Census data are also available on this site.
