Employment Services and Supports Program

The Employment Services and Supports (ESS) program delivers skills training programs to prepare vulnerable British Columbians for entry, or return to, sustainable employment.

The ESS Program is primarily open to unemployed individuals. Additional eligibility requirements may apply, depending on the program type and/or the specific services and training offered.

The types of services and skills training offered under the ESS Program are based on the demonstrated labour market need within a particular region or community, so may vary from region to region across British Columbia.

The programs provide a wide range of training, from job readiness and essential skills to entrepreneurial and trades training for unemployed individuals, including: youth, women, Indigenous people, immigrants and those under-represented in the trades. The goal is to ensure British Columbians who face barriers to employment gain employment or participate in further education training that will lead to employment.
