Hours:               7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am, 21 days in and 7 days out

Commercial and contractual management and administration of client work package for prime contractor.  The role will focus heavily on cost and change tracking and management Peace River Hydro Partners in our efforts to construct the main civil works for BC Hydro’s Site C Clean Energy Project, as well as serving as lead for commercial team of at least 2 junior quantity surveyors.  Applicants will be required to work a 3/1 rotation in camp accommodations. The position reports to the Project Contracts Manager and Commercial Director

Responsibilities

• Reporting CVR, cash, revenue, claim, and cost forecasting to Director and Executive level board members
• Working/managing multiple contracts/clients independently and concurrently
• Managing multiple projects independently and concurrently
• Leading commercial and contractual negotiations with vendors, subcontractors and client
• Change management including developing and implementing cost tracking processes for variations
• Developing and fostering close working relationships with clients and subcontractors
• Development and estimating of variations and claims
• Independently and collaboratively drafting and presenting commercial position statements to Project decision makers
• Total cost forecasting, accruals, payment reviews
• Preparation and negotiation of final accounts and interim claims
• Setting up project commercial and cost management systems and processes for project start-ups
• Implementing contractor commercial strategy and systems across multiple projects concurrently
• Utilizing electronic accounting systems such as CCS, Candy, JD Edwards, SAP, Coins, or similar
• Drafting and conforming bespoke contracts outside standard form templates
• Independently providing contract interpretations and resolving contract disputes
• Specific on site management of multiple specialist work packages
• On and off site management, mentorship and training of junior commercial team members
• Progress and productivity monitoring, analysis and reporting
• Re-measurement of contracted scopes of work


Experience & Qualifications

• Quantity Surveying Degree from recognized university, or similar
• Three years of senior management experience in similar role
• Three years of wide ranging experience in a commercial management/administration role on civil projects
• Three years of wide ranging experience in a contract management/administration role on civil project
• Three years of wide ranging experience in pre and post award functions, including: tender development, adjudication and selection, contract drafting and negotiation, on site administration of the scope of work, through to settling of final accounts
• Demonstrable experience placing and managing each of the following forms of contract: D&B, CM, cost plus, fixed rate, lump sum, and dayworks
• Familiarity with developing claims and settling disputes under the Common Law system
