Subsurface Utility Surveyor

GeoScan Subsurface Surveys are currently looking for skilled and motivated individuals to fill the position(s) of Junior & Senior Utility Surveyor.

The position is in our Vancouver, British Columbia office and we are willing to sponsor the right candidate for visa's if successful. We have relocated people from the UK to Canada successfully in the past and can provide references. This is an excellent opportunity to start a new life in a beautiful country.

GeoScan Subsurface Surveys is the largest and most experienced provider of Ground Penetrating (GPR) services in Western Canada and is rapidly growing company based in the Vancouver area. Our services include Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Surveys, Non-Destructive Testing, Xradar ConcreteScanning, Utility Locating, Subsurface Utility Engineering and Shallow Geophysical Surveys.

We are a rapidly growing company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We also have offices in Victoria, BC and Toronto, ON.

Candidates should have relevant industry experience including the following; Ground Penetrating Radar (high and low frequency), Radio Detection, electromagnetics, drainage surveys, topographical survey techniques and equipment, GPS location and positioning, office survey data processing, GPR data post processing and 2D/3D AutoCAD.

Minimum Requirements;

  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Valid, clean, driving license
  • Higher Education in a related subject or related work experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of the principles and practices of utility surveying
  • Understand scopes of work and project requirements
  • Ideally have working knowledge of current CAD programs
  • Possess an understanding of common industry practices and standards, i.e. S.U.E
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and out of hours, from time to time
  • Detailed knowledge of modern survey methods and survey devices, Total stations, GPS and data collectors
  • Knowledge of GPR, radio detection equipment and their use
  • Ability to perform detailed field and office surveying work
  • The use of post processing software and AutoCAD

Main Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Provide completed utility survey reports to the highest quality, in line with the company and industry standards, within the correct timescales and budget allocation.
  • To work independently and part of a team of utility locators.
  • Promote the Company Values and carryout your duties in a professional manner, with the ability to liaise clients and affected stakeholders confidently.
