Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for implementation and monitoring of Board initiatives across all products, outputs, and services produced/provided by the Estate. The GM is also responsible for integrating company policies into department operations, bridging external connections, and overseeing department operations incoordination with the Board and the senior management team. The GM is also responsible for the execution of strategies and ensuring that all plans carried out by the Estate team echos with the Estates vision.

Strategic Planning • Formulates long-and short-term strategies and operations direction that are suitable for the Canadian market and international market to ensure continuous generation of revenue • Establishes appropriate goals and objectives, including development of the brand’s DNA, etc. in coordination with the Proprietor and consultants

Operations • Responsible for materializing policies and directions into daily operations to ensure all decisions made and actions taken are aligning with the Estates strategies • Reviews annual budgets of each department; anticipates expense reductions or increases • Monitors marketing campaigns, sales growth and customer/VIP feedback • Presides over quality control of wines, services and experiences from vineyard to consumer. The GM is held accountable for maintaining a high level of quality in all aspects.

Management • Conducts performance reviews for all employees reporting in to the position and guides this review process for all staff • Directs staff in aspects of organizational structure, professional development, motivation, discipline, compensation, personnel policies and procedures. • Oversees overall budgets and ensures resources are properly allocated and appropriately utilized • Anticipates expansion or reduction of employee population • Presides over management meetings and team meetings at regular intervals

Reporting • Regular monthly reporting to the Chairman (owner). These are full operational reports including Vineyard, Winemaking, Marketing, Sales, Financial etc. • Accountable to the Board; provides adequate and timely information to the Board members • Advises the Chairman and Board of Directors of any appropriate business investments or opportunities • Communicates continuously with the Chairman the state of the business, the challenges and successes of daily operations.

Public Relations • Serves as the face of the Estate • Seeks and utilizes independent PR form when necessary • Represents the Estate in community activities • Maintains membership in professional organizations within the wine industry e.g British Columbia Wine Institute • Attends wine industry conferences when schedule allows • Maintains healthy relationship with media to build up brand names or to ease crisis management situations • Maintains healthy relationships with government officials that are in the best interest of the Estate • Oversee the internal PR direction

Required skills include: • 5 years or more of winemaking, vineyard and people management experience with increasing responsibility for decision making • Winemaking experience with global standard techniques • Language of work is in English

Preferred job qualifications include: • College degree required, preferably a Bachelor of Science in Enology/Fermentation Science and/or Viticulture • Luxury, boutique production winemaking experience with demonstrated results • Experience and Proficiency in Vintrace
