Job Description

Sr. Field and Water Technician 

Rainbow International Restoration of Vancouver Island (“Rainbow”) is a leading provider of disaster response (fire, flood, wind and more), mitigation and hazardous materials remediation and reconstruction services.  Locally owned and operated, Rainbow services the mid-island region and has become an employer of choice in Nanaimo Reconstruction and Remediation.   

The Sr. Field and Water Technician (“FWT”) is a crucial member of the Rainbow team responsible for performing emergency flood response, mitigation and restoration services to a wide variety of residential and commercial customers. Working in a fast paced, dynamic and sometimes unpredictable environment, the FWT displays exemplary flexibility and customer focus to help Rainbow and its customer achieve their goals. 


  • Provide prompt, professional and top-notch service to all customers, being a clear step above the traditional service provider and setting Rainbow apart from its competition. This includes being polite, courteous and respectful while working through challenging situations. 

  • Take an informal leadership role with other team members, providing on-the-job mentorship and support. 

  • Complete the activities listed on daily work orders and keep an accurate log of consumables and equipment used, along with progress of work.   

  • Utilize provided systems and software and photo document all work and site visits, this includes Rainbow’s job management, time sheet and contents management systems. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Rainbow products and services and general construction processes and practices, educating and informing Rainbows customers and partners throughout a project. 

  • Work well through ambiguity and take a positive approach to every situation. 

  • Be proficient in flood response and drying techniques, thoroughly understand the use of all equipment (fans, dehumidifiers, moisture meters).  

  • Accurately sketch site layouts and moisture maps. 

  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of equipment, power tools and hand tools. 

  • Drive company vehicles courteously and responsibly, obeying all traffic laws. 

  • Participate in an on-call schedule to provide 24/7 emergency coverage to our valued customers. 


  • Four (4) years of experience in a construction or restoration environment 

  • IICRC, Red Seal or Trade certifications/tickets are an asset 

  • Ability to safely use a variety of power tools and equipment 

  • Effective customer service and communication skills 

  • Class 5 driver's license  

  • Criminal record check required


The Sr. FWT is the go-to person to get things done onsite.  They perform a wide variety of tasks and are the face of Rainbow to our valued customers and partners in the insurance industry.  As a member of the emergency response team, they manage uncertainty and ambiguity well, working through difficult situations individually and as a part of a team.
