Job Description

Customized Employment Specialists interview clients to understand their employment history, educational background, and career goals; plus, they identify strengths, challenges, and needs before developing a mutually agreed upon, comprehensive return to work action plan with clients.  Utilizing a client-centred approach, you will work individually with job seekers from diverse ability levels, cultures, and backgrounds, including those with disabilities (physical, mental, or intellectual), multiple barriers, and limited work experience to job search, start, and maintain employment.  You will support and guide them towards their training, skills upgrading, and employment goals.  Working with a wide-ranging population of clients, you will be given ample opportunity to develop strong working relationships, solve problems, and think critically in a confidential environment that is responsive to clients’ needs.  You will be responsible for accurate and timely data entry, adherence to WorkBC and Horton Ventures Inc. policies, and for maintaining current documentation that summarizes clients’ progress and results.  Plus, you will promote available WorkBC programs and hiring incentives, market WorkBC services, and build relationships with community stakeholders, and employers to create opportunities for placements.
