Job Description

21 Steps Kitchen and Bar is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round cook for its busy restaurant located in Whistler, British Columbia. The wage is $18/hour with 4% vacation and benefits in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of BC. Staff accommodation is available. Job duties:

  1. Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and/or preparing sauces);
  2. Cook menu items and prepare complete meals in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff;
  3. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion;
  4. Supervise and oversee kitchen staff and kitchen operations;
  5. Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies;
  6. Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
  7. Determine portion sizes, estimate food requirements and costs, and order supplies;
  8. Stock inventory appropriately;
  9. Assist with the training of kitchen staff;
  10. Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions;
  11. Clean up station and take care of leftover food;
  12. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards;
  13. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.

At least one year of commercial cooking experience in a full-service, busy environment is required.
