Vehicle Cleaner

Location: Whistler, BC

Do you prefer a position that is hands-on over working from a desk? Do you have commitments that keep you preoccupied during the day? PWTransit is seeking a full-time Vehicle Cleaner to start immediately. This position is a night shift, 4 days on / 4 days off (4:30 pm - 4:30 am). Perfect for someone who enjoys the ability to get errands done or wants the potential to get to the ski hill on their days off.


Responsible for the fueling and cleaning of the interiors and exteriors of any vehicle that is owned, operated or leased by the Company.

  • Clean the interiors and exteriors of various vehicles as determined by the Company.
  • Fuel and check all fluid levels as determined by cleaning and fuelling procedures.
  • Clean interior and exterior bus advertising and back lit lighting, report any interior lights that are not working. Replace interior & exterior advertising signs when instructed to do so.
  • As part of the vault dumping procedures, must “Probe” buses and “Dump” vault canisters into vault receiver unit.
  • May be required to “pre-trip” a bus for another driver.
  • May be required at short notice to provide replacement coverage for a regular transit driver.
  • Miscellaneous building cleaning duties, dumping trashcans and washing floors when assigned.
  • Cleaning engine compartments, undercarriages, wheels, and vehicle parts cleaning.
  • May be assigned incidental tasks of a janitorial nature or general clean up and painting duties that are commonly associated with the operation of a maintenance center and bus parking/servicing garage.
  • And related duties as required.


  • Must meet qualifications for ICBC Commercial Licensing.
  • Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate effectively with the traveling public and to report on incidents involving safety and/or service.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive medical examination relating to Motor Vehicle Act requirement for a class 5 driver's license.
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license, air brake endorsement (15) with a demonstrated record indicating safe and responsible vehicle operation over the past 5 years.
  • No more than 3 points in the past 3 years
  • No more than 5 points in the past 5 years
  • No more than 2 violations in the past 5 years
  • No suspensions or prohibitions of any kind in the past 5 year
  • No more than 1 at fault accident in the past 5 years
  • No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the Washrack/Operator position.

Additional Information:

A good knowledge of the local area is an asset.

This position may require working shifts, including graveyard, afternoon, evenings or split shifts, as well as weekends and statutory holidays (transit service may operate 7 days per week, 23 hours per day).
