Overtime: As per BC provincial standards (time-and-a-half)

Observed Holidays: As per BC provincial standards for statutory holidays, no additional holidays observed

Medical: BC MSP premiums payable by employee

Education: Completion of secondary education required
Experience: 3-4 years of work experience as a cabinetmaker

 

 

Job Duties:

 

·         Always follow established safety rules and regulations, use proper protective safety gear, and maintain a clean and safe work area

·         Study project specifications (blueprints, sketches, plans, etc.)

·         Understand, Plan and Implement the Requirements including any and all special notes and symbols

·         Set-up and operate a variety of woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers

·         Mark outlines/dimensions according to specifications

·         Cut, trim and/or shape joints to ensure snug fit – use handtools such as planes, chisels, or wood files

·         Bore holes for screws/dowels

·         Blue, fit and clamp parts and subassemblies together to form complete units using clamps or clamping machines

·         Sand/scrape surfaces and joints of assemblies/subassemblies in order to prepare them for finishing

·         May require use of stains, varnishes, or paints involved in finishing the product/assembly

·         Be able to inspect equipment and materials in order to identify potential problems or defects
