Job Description

We are currently looking for Full time and Part Time Housekeeping Aides for Powell River General Hospital.

  • 2 Full Time 
  • 1 Part Time

Hiring Location: Powell River General Hospital (Powell River, BC)

Job Status: Full-Time, Part Time 

Hours per week: 36.25.

Hourly Rate: 15.37/hr (probationary period)

                       16.62/hr (after probationary period)


  • Full Time Night shifts 11:00 pm – 6:45 am - Days off Tuesday & Wednesday
  • Full time Day shifts 7:00 am-2:45 pm - Days off Tuesday & Wednesday
  • Part Time Evening Shifts 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Days off : Sunday -Thursday

Duties & Qualifications:

As Housekeeper Associate, you will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and maintaining all common areas such as floors, stairs, carpets by performing tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, dry/wet mopping, auto scrubbing and floor refinishing including stripping, sealing, waxing and polishing.
  • Cleaning, washing and maintaining all patient contact items.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting areas and items such as washrooms, interior windows, walls, glass, doors and mirrors.
  • Collecting soiled linen and distributing clean linen according to guidelines.
  • Stripping and washing beds, making beds, collecting and folding linen.
  • Keeping current on training and education (WHMIS, Infection Control, housekeeping practices).


What we looking for:

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare environment will be an asset.
  • Able to stand on feet for long period of times.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Important note: **A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment. Proof of immunizations and Tuberculosis Screening Test results will be required. **
