Job Description

Are you a people leader who excels at coaching, mentoring, and working with individuals to support the development of their work practices and careers? Do you have experience leading teams in an IT environment?

 

We’re looking for an IT people development manager who can create a learning environment for individuals, provide individual and team coaching for DevOps teams, and convey frequent feedback for continued development and performance improvement. You’ll use your technical knowledge and experience with product development (projects and sustainment) within DevOps to create teams with the right qualities to deliver exceptional products.

What you’ll do

As a people development manager you will:

·        Participate in the recruitment and selection process for DevOps teams

·        Manage the performance of individuals on five DevOps teams

·        Coach and advise individuals to create their performance and career development plans – identifying skills required to excel in their current jobs and to prepare them for future jobs

·        Motivate and guide staff to meet their objectives and achieve their goals

·        Coach team members on how to receive and deliver constructive feedback to individuals within teams

·        Provide constructive feedback on performance

·        Adapt to changes and model positive behaviours even when faced with difficult circumstances

·        Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals, teams, and diverse groups in an objective and diplomatic manner

·        Provide estimates for one’s own work and challenge work estimates to ensure team commitments are reasonable

 

Your experience and educational background:

·        A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field

·        Education and experience in team coaching, talent management, and performance management

·        A minimum of seven years working in the IT industry with at least

o   Five years of those seven years directly responsible for operational delivery of projects, for managing and developing staff, for leading systemic coaching efforts in support of teams’ function and performance

o   Two years of those seven years working within an Agile/DevOps environment within IT

·        Scrum master or product owner certification is an asset
