Job Description

Term of App't:         Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week               

Start date:               Immediately

Reporting to:           Chief Information Officer                                

 

Salary:

 

 

Classification 6, $38,257.56 - $39,440.78 annually, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement.  Vacation, 119 hours annually, is pro-rated and front loaded.  We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as cover the basic medical services plan fees.  Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves.  Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 Jan 1st) of each year is paid time off.

Description:

 

 

Under general supervision, to provide front-line customer service related to technical software, hardware, and network problem resolution to faculty, staff and students.   Guide users in a call center style environment.  Provide one on one end-user assistance and training, with the ability to assist in troubleshooting both network printers and communications problems, hardware, and software issues on a Tier 1 response level (either by phone or remote access).  When necessary elevate complicated issues to the appropriate senior technician.  The Helpdesk Technician will maintain comprehensive records of user issues and maintain the common issue knowledge base for use by all users.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience of customer service practices, along with related experience and training is required. General knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware and other equipment, knowledge of relevant call tracking applications would be preferred.   A current Driver's license is required.
