Job Description

Reporting to the Program Director, you will be responsible for delivery of instruction to participants enrolled in the ACP Advanced Diploma program, Primary Care Paramedic program, and Paramedic course and programs delivered to domestic partners in Canada and international partners, here in Canada, and abroad.

This is a position for an individual who enjoys the challenge of working in applied programs and whose philosophy about teaching is consistent with those outlined in the JIBC’s Academic Plan. This position requires an individual who has a high degree of comfort with changing schedules and an ability to adapt to working on different programs and courses at the same time.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a paramedicine background, a demonstrated commitment to Education (preferably through previous teaching at the post-secondary level), an interest and aptitude for leading and working in a highly collaborative team environment, and administrative competencies including supervision, and experience with curriculum development.

The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of concepts and practices associated with paramedicine, and the ability to teach across all courses within paramedic programs.  Average teaching load per week when classes are in session is 21 -24 hours per week.  When not involved in direct classroom instruction, this position also provides coordination and administrative leadership for educational aspects of the program and participates in scholarly activity and research as it relates to paramedicine.

The preferred candidate will have a Master’s Degree, or higher, in a relevant academic field (e.g. Health Sciences, Education, Clinical Practice); and recent (within 5 years) direct work experience in the field as an ACP (or higher) Paramedic   Ideally, you have completed JIBC INDC-1110 Essential Skills for Training and Facilitation course, or equivalent courses in Adult Education, and/or instructional design; and you also have familiarity with learning technologies and various models of supervision.

You have excellent communication skills (written & verbal); the ability to maintain effective working relationships with the Program Director, Program Managers, students, Sessional Instructors, Nurse Clinicians, Field Preceptors, Program Chief Medical Officer and others; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to work under pressure while responding to students’ requests.  You also have demonstrated intercultural communication skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with international clients and partners.

As international travel is required for this position, a valid passport is required.

The annual salary range for this position is $73,685 to $81,872 (Fair Comparison – Salary Grid P3).
