Job Duties:

• Restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery.
• Able to provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
• Assist veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, administering and by cleaning up after surgery
• Produce radiographs, collect and analyses samples and perform other laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of animal health problems.
• Educate and advise clients on animal health care including routine dental procedures with animal dentistry, nutrition and home care.
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Job requirements:

• Completion of a two- or three-year animal health college program is required.
• Experience in animal health technologist may progress to supervisory positions.
