Position: Assistant Curator, Chemainus Valley Museum

Description:
The position starts on or about May 23, 2021 and runs through September 7, 2021 or through Labour Day September 9, 2021, schedules permitting.
Hourly wage: $15.20; 5 days/week, 7 hours/day. Approximately 525 work hours for summer.
Curators are responsible for assembling, cataloging, managing, and presenting/displaying cultural collections. The position will assist with these duties as well as: helping with Museum operations; Front Desk duties including greeting visitors from around the world and providing museum tours and/or information about Chemainus Valley; assisting with summer events. Our Museum and Society is designed to be friendly and compliant with Covid-19 protocols in a welcoming safe environment.
Students seeking summer employment must currently be in school as a full-time student and be planning to return to full time studies in September 2021.
The Chemainus Valley Museum is located on Vancouver Island mid-way between Victoria and Nanaimo in the Mural town of Chemainus. The Museum has a beautiful setting to showcase the history of this wonderful community overlooking the harbour and situated in the town centre within Waterwheel Plaza. Chemainus is a popular attraction for local Islanders as well as for Canadian, International and US visitors each summer.
