Job Description


The Royalties Administrator is responsible for managing the accurate collection and payment of royalties to Monstercat artists and third party rights holders.  Reporting to the Head of Digital, this cross-functional role works across the Commercial, Music and Marketing Departments to ensure that royalty, advance, and expense information is properly set up and ingested in our internal system, Label Manager. This includes setting up royalty shares on records and non-music assets; working with the Commercial team to process sales reports and ancillary revenue (e.g., licensing fees); working with Music and Marketing teams to input expense and advance budgets; auditing sales reports; reconciling artist accounts; answering questions from artists about their statements; and producing monthly artist royalty reports and summaries. 


What You’ll Do…


  • Collect, audit and process sales reports from various platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.)
  • Together with Finance, record revenue amounts reported to reconcile against amounts received
  • Upload sales reports in an acceptable format to Label Manager for processing 
  • Liaise with Business Affairs to enter accurate copyright and royalty share information for all Monstercat-owned assets (music & non-music) into Label Manager
  • Together with Music, Marketing, and Commercial; enter Ancillary Revenue, Expenses and Advances (Invoices) into Label Manager
  • Together with Finance, Schedule and coordinate monthly artist royalty payments 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve errors with payment runs
  • Summarize each monthly payment run for Directors and Executives 
  • Respond to royalties-related support inquiries from artists, publishers, and other third party rightsholders 
  • Ensure Label Manager has the appropriate metadata needed for processing
  • Other duties, as required


About You…

  • Comfortable working with large data sets  
  • Proficient with Excel and Google Sheets
  • An eye for noticing errors/anomalies
  • Written and verbal communication skills (emails, professional writing)
  • Previous music industry experience, an asset
  • Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or data entry role, an asset
  • FinTech experience, an asset
