Job Description


  • Provide all reporting and evaluations required in contract deliverables
  • Scheduling for program staff ensuring staff coverage as required to meet contractual obligations while following the collective agreement and local issues agreement requirements
  • Promotes a respectful, culturally diverse environment for supported individuals
  • Respond to and generate new referrals for intakes to support additional clients in community
  • Create, oversee and implement Behavioural Support Plans, Safety plans and Risk management plans
  • Review and monitor program expenditures in conjunction with the Executive and Finance department
  • Provide management and leadership of sub-contractors and staff
  • Participates alongside agency HR in recruitment, screening and interviewing of new program staff and volunteers
  • Provides initial program orientation (onsite training) for staff and volunteers
  • Participate and lead HR and Labour Relations issues with program staff
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, case consultation and performance management for individual staff and worksite teams
  • Implements policies and procedures, including developing appropriate manuals, brochures and handbooks for programs
  • Participates in development and provision of training, both one on one and group as required to maintain and enhance program staff skills and performance
  • Complete updates for the executive/board regarding the program area, including goals, indicators, targets, timelines, and outcomes
  • Provides feedback and guidance to program staff during their daily interactions to ensure adherence to agency policy, procedure, program and contractual expectations and requirements
  • Act as a partner and advisor to the Executive team and directly contribute to the strategic growth, policy development, financial strength, and internal business functioning of JHSTR
  • At the direction of Senior Leadership, liaises with community partners, funders, and stakeholders
  • Responsible to create and implement program documentation and enhancement in line with CARF requirements
  • Ensures that JHSTR program facilities fulfill all fire, health and safety regulations
  • Lead liaison for growth/development of the program area – to meet specified targets within agency program goals as defined annually. Identify and lead opportunities for growth in program area and write/develop and respond to program RFP’s and financial requests of the funder
  • Perform other related duties as required


We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate has:

  • University degree in the Behavioural Sciences or a combination of equivalent related education and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience including supervisory or management experience
  • Experience working within a union environment, in depth knowledge and application of the collective agreement
  • Experience working with those living with a mental health diagnosis, developmental or diverse ability, or substance use that affects their day-to-day life
  • Experience working from a trauma informed practice approach
