Aerospace is a key component of the province’s advanced manufacturing sector. B.C. is well positioned as a major aerospace hub for the Pacific North West and is gaining global recognition. The province’s proximity to growing Asian Pacific aerospace markets and to Boeing operations in Washington State are key advantages for B.C.’s aerospace companies.

B.C. is a national leader in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul work, and also has notable capabilities in aircraft component manufacturing and space. Companies such as Viking Air Ltd., Conair, and Urthecast are helping to put B.C.’s aerospace sector on the map. B.C. has made a five-year, $5 million commitment to promote and further develop B.C.’s aerospace sector in partnership with Aerospace Industries Association of Canada – Pacific Division.

B.C. boasts Canada’s third largest aerospace sector, generating $2.4 billion in revenues and $1.3 billion in GDP. B.C. has more than 160 aerospace companies, with a range of capabilities and specializations. The province’s aerospace sector provides over 8,000 jobs.

Sector Labour Market Partnerships Program

The Sector Labour Market Partnerships (LMP) Program helps industry and employers understand and respond to changing labour market demands. Under the program, partnership-led projects can apply for funding to address broader sector and regional labour market issues.
