Mining

Mining provides significant opportunities for all British Columbians. British Columbia is internationally recognized as a centre of expertise in mining, metallurgy, environmental engineering, mine safety, and geoscience. The province is home to the world’s largest concentration of exploration companies and mining professionals.

Mining will continue to be an important part of the B.C. economy, employing British Columbians in mines, mills and head offices, providing well-paying jobs in communities across the province.

In 2015, the mining sector contributed over $8 billion to B.C. GDP and there were over 45,000 jobs in mining, energy and related sectors.
