Andrew - New Westminster WorkBC ESC

2 September 2016
Andrew was experiencing ongoing unemployment and he wanted to get help connecting to continuous employment. Andrew received financial supports such as bus tickets and food cards, workshop training in job search skills and job developer services. He went through Short Term Orientation and Certificate (STOC) training. The WorkBC Employment Services Centre also got Andrew connected with a Wage Subsidy through the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. Andrew has been coming to WorkBC Centre, Fraser Works Co-op, for several years.  Andrew recently had an interview with a security firm.  WorkBC paid for his license to be a security guard and set him up with an appointment with Working Man’s closet. Working Man’s closet was a major help for Andrew as he was able to visit the shop with a WorkBC Job Developer to pick out a shirt and pants for the interview.  Andrew was the successful candidate at that interview and he has been employed full time for months now.
Andrew is now working full time for Strategic defense as a security monitor.
