Laureen - Quesnel WorkBC ESC - Remote Work/Skills Training

10 February 2016
Laureen was only able to pick up odd jobs which offered work mainly in the evenings and weekends. Her challenges were that her computer and office skills were outdated and she was lacking the terminology required to work in the medical field which she was interested in pursuing.

Laureen visited the Quesnel WorkBC Employment Services Centre, Quesnel Employment Services, as a recommendation from a friend who works at the WorkBC Centre.

At the WorkBC Centre Laureen received excellent counselling and found out she was eligible for skills training. She attended, and graduated from a community college with a certificate with honours.

Before even completing her certificate, Laureen was able to obtain a casual job in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist. She will be applying for a permanent medical transcriptionist position in the in the near future.
