Dayton - Duncan WorkBC ESC - PWD

2 February 2016

Dayton came to the Duncan WorkBC Employment Services Centre, Global Vocational Services, because he had previously been working for a family business and was laid off. He was also in the process of applying for Person with Disability (PWD) status.

Dayton’s challenges were housing issues, the disability application process, getting stable work and his need for interview skills and a stronger resume.

Dayton decided to try the WorkBC Centre because he heard they were the place to go for help in looking for employment. He was interested in computers and workshops and wanted assistance with his employment search.

The WorkBC Centre introduced Dayton to some local job fairs and helped him secure volunteer positions to gain experience. He received support for job readiness, skill building and marketing abilities. Additionally, there was a job board, resume templates and assistance in way of support.

Dayton has currently had two part time jobs and assistance with his PWD application. He’s still on a career path, gearing towards the film industry and animation. Dayton said of his experience with WorkBC: “Global helped me reach my goals with an open mind."
