Community-based Employment Services

Community-based Employment Services (CBES) is a vital part of B.C.’s Employment Readiness service umbrella, supporting individuals facing complex barriers to become job ready.

Meeting People Where They Are

CBES takes a personalized, holistic approach to employment readiness. Outreach teams build trauma-informed, culturally safe relationships with people, meeting them where they are at and helping them take meaningful steps toward employment.

CBES is currently operating in six communities:
  • Vancouver (Downtown Eastside)
  • Surrey
  • Victoria
  • Nanaimo
  • Kelowna
  • Prince George

Why CBES Matters
  • Addresses the needs of B.C.'s most vulnerable populations
  • Builds bridges between people and essential community supports
  • Supports the future of WorkBC with an additional, inclusive and flexible service option
  • Helps people facing barriers build brighter futures through community connection and employment

Expanding to More Communities

In response to the success of the pilot communities, CBES will expand to 16 additional communities by Spring 2026. This expansion will help more vulnerable British Columbians connect with supports, build job readiness, and secure employment.
