The 2025 Labour Market Outlook (LMO) report delivers a comprehensive forecast of job-market trends for the coming decade. Its purpose is to help current and future post-secondary students, organizations, workers and employers make informed decisions about careers, skills training, education and hiring.

The 2025 edition of the report features a few new key considerations:

  • An adjusted population growth forecast that incorporates the 2025–2027 Federal Immigration Levels Plan released in November 2024. This plan reduced Canada’s immigration targets over the forecast period from a 1.6 percent to 0.9 percent.

  • A revised list of key growth sectors: Health care and social assistance; Professional, scientific and technical services; Retail trade; Construction; and Finance, insurance and real estate.

  • An updated High Opportunity Occupation (HOO) list, which includes improvements to the methodology that calculates average annual earnings.

The 2025 B.C. Labour Market Outlook report is primarily available in two different formats: a digital summary and a complete report (PDF). However, the full set of forecast data is also available on the BC Data Catalogue. Select an option below to learn more about this year’s labour market forecast.
